JOB SUMMARY
This position oversees the collection, transformation, and interpretation of large volume data to derive actionable insights that support the development and implementation of advanced analytics models and solutions. This position works with a team responsible for the research and implementation of predictive requirements by leveraging industry standard machine learning and data visualization tools to draw insights that empower confident decisions and product creation. This position leverages emerging tools and technologies available on On-prem and Cloud environments. This position utilizes industry standard machine learning and data visualization tools to transform data and analytics requirements into predictive solutions and provide data literacy on a range of machine learning systems at UPS.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Synthesizes data from large disparate sources (internal and external) which serve as inputs for data and model pipelines in building analytical systems.
- Creates analytical reports and represents large, complex sets of data and associated solutions to support business objectives.
- Assists teams in applying best practices on the use of statistical modeling, machine learning, algorithms, distributed computing, Cloud-based AI technologies and run time performance tuning with the goal of deployment and market introduction.
- Assists in identifying opportunities to move from predictive to prescriptive analytics that turn data quickly into insights and support data-driven decisions.
- Leverages analytics and visualization tools to design and present information to drive fact-based decision making.
- Utilizes visualization techniques and supports training to encourage adoption of visualization tools.
- Creates impactful visualizations for internal publication to facilitate communication.
- Reviews visualizations for data accuracy and integrity to meet business standards.
- Assists with the development of procedures to monitor model and production system performance/integrity.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements:
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Experience in data mining and understanding of Machine Learning or operations research.
- Knowledge of R, SQL, Python.
- Demonstrated experience in cloud-AI technologies and knowledge of environments both in Linux/Unix and Windows.
- Experience implementing open-source technologies and cloud services; with or without the use of enterprise data science platforms.
- Ability to engage key business and executive-level stakeholders to translate business problems to high level analytics solution approach.
- Able to collaborate with domestic and global teams and exercise independent judgement.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Bachelors’ (BS/BA) Degree in a quantitative field of mathematics, computer science, physics, economics, engineering, statistics (operations research, quantitative social science, etc.), international equivalent, or equivalent job experience.
