The Video Engineering Data Analytic and Quality (DAQ) group is looking for a data scientist with a strong emphasis on deep system understanding through data analysis. In this role, you will collaborate with multiple teams (machine learning, quality assurance, cloud infrastructure support, user studies). We work on multiple, related projects requiring a bit of creativity and ingenuity. You will partner with video computer vision teams to improve algorithm quality and guide feature development with data, to deliver amazing computer vision experiences.
Key Qualifications
- 3+ years relevant industry experience
- Solid background in data science, machine learning, Computer vision and statistical data analysis
- Demonstrated experience in in-depth analysis of machine learning model failures
- Experience crafting, conducting, analyzing, and interpreting experiments and investigations
- Advanced programming skills in data manipulation & processing (SQL & Python preferred)
- Proven expertise in data wrangling and developing data visualizations & reporting with toolings such as Tableau, Superset, AWS etc.
- Self-motivated and curious with creative and critical thinking capabilities to improve data quality evaluation methods for diverse and complex data annotation programs
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, along with strong collaborative abilities
- Experience presenting data to stakeholders
Description
Video Engineering DAQ team is seeking a self-motivated data scientist to research and develop evaluation methods to drive the continuous improvement for Apple’s wide variety of computer vision projects. You will deeply understand algorithm module and design intermediate metrics to evaluate algorithm from telemetry (on-device logging data). You will identify core metrics to track usage and performance for computer vision algorithms on large scale data, and conduct deep-dive failure analysis to find the potential root cause of unexpected performance. You will build and maintain automated pipeline and dashboard for analyzing and visualizing data and present your meaningful findings to communicate up leadership and cross-functional teams.
Education & Experience
BS and a minimum of 3 years relevant industry experience
Pay & Benefits
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $132,300.00 and $241,500.00, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
