Anti-Financial Crime

Anti-Financial Crime (AFC) is responsible for the prevention of money laundering, the fight against terrorist financing, the monitoring of financial and commercial sanctions, and the fight against other criminal activities.

AFC's goal is to identify risks resulting from financial crimes that could jeopardize Deutsche Bank's (DB) integrity and thus its success, to prevent these risks as effectively as possible, or, if they do occur, to investigate and clear them up appropriately in the interest of all parties involved.

Within AFC's entire value chain, the AFC Modelling (AFC M) area uses a risk-based management approach to create the models and scenarios that translate the above goals and expectations into concrete controls and analysis. This role is responsible for digital assets transaction monitoring models and scenarios, which is a function within the global AFC Digital Assets team. AFC Digital Assets are responsible for advising, identification and mitigation of digital asset risk globally for DB.

Your responsibilities

As Senior Data Scientist within AFC Digital Assets, you are responsible for incorporating complex business requirements into implementable models for known pattern or anomalous behaviour and for compliance with Deutsche Bank's modelling standards, focus in particular on transactions in the context of the bank’s Digital Asset Custody (DAC) services. For this role you should have experience as data scientist and modeller and good programming skills and experience with digital assets.

  • Development of money laundering detection models in Python, R, Scala on top of Apache Spark
  • Work with blockchain analytics solutions to develop digital asset specific models.
  • Cooperation with business experts, investigators, architects, infrastructure experts and developers on an international strategic intelligence framework for money laundering prevention - from data analysis to scalable models
  • Documentation of source code and methodology
  • Support and quality assurance during the test and development phase

Ihre Kompetenzen und Erfahrungen

  • You have a degree in mathematics, physics, computer science, or comparable qualifications and experience
  • Proficiency in data modelling with structured and unstructured data sources based on a deep understanding of the statistical and geometrical background of the models.
  • A real interest in Anti-Financial-Crime topics such as AML, name screening, or CTF an basic knowledge on those topics, and digital asset related services and technologies. Experience in AFC, compliance or banking desirable.
  • Proficiency in data modelling with structured and unstructured data sources based on a deep understanding of the statistical and geometrical background of the models
  • You have at least 3 years of experience in Python, Scala, C ++, or similar programming languages with a focus on Big Data (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, Solr etc.)
  • Excellent oral and written English skills; German desirable
