Description

Operations Technology Solutions (OTS) data team is looking for a data science manager to join our team. The data science manager is expected to use advanced analytics technologies, including machine learning and predictive modelling, to support the identification of trends, scrape information from unstructured data sources and provide automated recommendations and data-driven solutions for business decisions.

Key job responsibilities

  • Mining and analyzing data from company databases using APIs or building ETL pipelines to improve overall business strategies
  • Data cleaning using programming languages (e.g. Python)
  • Prepare and extract data using programming language, developing A/B testing campaign frameworks and testing model quality
  • Statistical analysis using machine learning algorithms such as natural language processing, logistic regression, Random Forest or gradient boosting
  • Create advanced machine learning algorithms such as regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees and, neural networks
  • Creating programming and automation techniques, such as libraries, that simplify day-to-day processes using tools to develop and train machine learning models
  • Perform large-scale experimentation to identify hidden relationships between variables in large datasets
  • Developing big data infrastructures, implement cutting-edge techniques and tools in machine learning, deep learning and artificial intelligence to make data analysis more efficient
  • Develop artificial intelligence models and algorithms and implement them to meet the needs of the organization
  • Implement new statistical, machine learning, or other mathematical methodologies to solve specific business problems
  • Coordinate research and analysis activities using unstructured and structured data and use programming to clean and organize data
  • Visualize data in a way that allows a business to quickly draw conclusions and make decisions
  • Communicating and coordinating with teams to implement data-driven strategies while measuring progress
  • Lead a team of data scientists

Basic qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, computer systems engineering or equivalent quantitative field
  • 5+ years work experience as a data scientist or similar role
  • 5+ years of building quantitative solutions as a scientist or science manager experience
  • 5+ years of applying statistical models for large-scale application and building automated analytical systems experience
  • 2+ years of scientists or machine learning engineers’ management experience
  • 2+ years people leadership experience
  • Knowledge of Python or R or other scripting language
  • Ability to create data architectures, programming, statistics and probability, data wrangling and database management
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and programming languages
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical analysis techniques and concepts, and how to apply them to data sets
  • Data visualization and cloud computing
  • A desire to learn new techniques and technologies
  • Flexibility to work as a team leader, a member of the team, and as an individual contributor
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Problem-solving skills

Preferred qualifications

  • MBA, MS, or MA in computer science, mathematics, statistics, machine learning or equivalent quantitative field
  • Relevant training and/or certifications as a Data Scientist
  • Experience in a least one area of Machine Learning (NLP, Regression, Classification, Clustering, or Anomaly Detection)
  • Experience with fairness in machine learning and artificial intelligence to detect and remove bias in ML/AI systems
